Crap! You see what I did? I broke the fourth wall! I try not to do that unless absolutely necessary, yet here it is, only the fourth installment, and already I broke the fourth wall! Darn.
But anyway, what you're reading this week was an idea suggested by my good friend Marie Kerns, who's also serving as like a creative consultant for the webcomic: the idea is that Levana has befriended a hospital employee, in this case, Laura, a nursing assistant, and that she still gets urges for blood.
The backstory is that whenever Levana goes through withdrawls, she'd sneak into the hospital, disguised in scrubs, and Laura really used to swipe actual blood from their supply for her, but when doctors began to notice pints of blood would turn up missing, Laura gives Levana a placebo, sangria, when push comes to shove (like here)... where she gets the sangria, I have no idea, unless one of the doctors is a boozer and has a secret stash of it somewhere... but apparently, Levana gets so stir-crazy from withdrawls that she doesn't even notice the difference: it a dark red liquid that quenches her thirst.
On the subject, why don't you visit Marie's own site, and see some of her fantastic work for yourself: http://www.theravenchild.com
Phew, that's a relief! lol
